Ian & Tricia

November 14, 2008

She hung a men’s tie around her bed post all throughout college as a reminder to pray for the man who she would one day call husband. She was the banal yet consistent one and I was the free spirit whose impulsivity sometimes got her in trouble. As opposite as we seemed, my friendship with Tricia flourished as we made amazing college memories as roommates and as best friends. Those memories have followed many more, including engagements, weddings, and coming soon, the arrival of a long awaited little guy named Eli Douglas Smith.
Her and Ian’s journey during the last year hasn’t been an easy one, but I can see that it has given them clarity into their souls unlike any other time during their lives. I’m so proud of them and their faithfulness in grasping God’s sovereignty even when it wasn’t easy. More than anything, Mark and I are proud to call them friends.
Tricia no longer hangs a tie on her bed post. Needless to say, God answered her prayers and brought her this pretty amazing guy named Ian. However, the one thing that will never change is our friendship and its capacity to create and share memories. Something tells me that Eli will play a big role in that from here on out.

There is no place in the world like Lynchburg to me. Besides it’s beauty in the fall, the smell of the mountain air, and it’s warm hospitality, Lynchburg, for me, represents endless memories of friends, fun, growth, love, and God. So where better to take a pictures than on LU’s campus with a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
